BIOGRAPHY

Christina Wilson has been oil painting for 45+ years beginning in her native state of California. Her earliest influences were from art instructors who used wet-on-wet techniques and palette knife mastery.  Her own method has evolved to include vibrant color and bold, dappled brush applications to convey light and reflections. Christina’s subjects are drawn primarily from nature. Her historical artistic influences have been the impressionists such as Manet, Monet, Degas and Renoir; however, Christina tends to lean towards a realist’s interpretation of her subject matter with a hint of whimsy.  Her most captured subject has been both red and California poppies.

Artist Statement:

I am drawn into an art piece when I can see a portal of light illuminating honest color in the subject. I create my work to speak color and light that pulls me into a scene. Much of life includes dark and colorless moments.  Those moments give me the ambition to bust through with light and color.
